Run, Wrigley, Run

As promised, I have taken a few more videos of Addy running around and well... acting like a DOG. Admittedly, she is a pesky little sister kind of dog, but Wrigley seems to be patient enough. Plus, it certainly won't hurt if he can parlay this exercise into losing a few pounds (but don't tell him I said so!).

Addy loves to chase Wrigley all around the deck and he loves to run from her. You will also notice that Wrigley is too big to fit between the deck slats, but Addy fits just fine. Once she catches up to him she tries to pull on his collar to get him to resume playtime. It doesn't usually work because by the time Wrigley starts to try to escape her for real and not just for the game, he is dead tired.

What a good brother he is.

Gross Misinformation

This has to be one of the most uninformed and silly articles I have ever read (and that is putting it mildly). Amidst all of the stories about the amazing recovery of the Vick dogs and their ability to lead normal lives as DOGS (which is what they are - not unstoppable monsters), people still believe things like the mess in this article. I agree that there is a lot of irresponsible and negligent pit bull ownership out there, but that still does not make the dogs bad. It just makes those responsible pit bull owners (which is where I believe I fit in) have to work that much harder in order for our dogs to be treated normally. I feel horrible for the people and the dogs who are harmed by carless owners who don't train or contain their dogs. The first rule of dog ownership and training is not to set your dog up to fail.

Hoodies

Last week there was a shipping sale at JBPet.com, so I picked up these hoodies for Addy and Probert. Cornholio used to have a red one just like this and it was so cute. The pups probably won't wear them until the fall, but now they have them. Addy's is a little tight and I'm worried she will grow out of it. I guess we'll see!

Thanks, Mom!

Dog Packs

Hello, Friends! I hope all of the dog moms and human moms and motherly types had a great Mother's Day! I received a card from MY mom telling me to enjoy the day with my 4- and 3-legged children. Also, the pups got me a card and the Slumdog Millionaire DVD, which I watched last night curled up on the couch with Maizy and Addy. A great way to spend any evening, I think!

All of the pups are doing well. Addy and Probert got into a little scuffle about a week ago, and since then we've been keeping them apart, which is working out just fine. When it's time to go outside, Addy and Wrigley go out together and Probert and Maizy go out together, typically. Sometimes Probert goes out alone and the other three go together, which seems to suit Probert just fine. I think he would be quite happy as an only dog, but life is not always fair. ;)
Anyway, here is a picture of Addy and Wrigley. She bullies him a little bit, but that is mostly because he's such a baby and if she even looks at him, he takes off running. This morning they had a great time chasing eachother around and around and around the deck railing, though. It is quite cute. I think Wrigley is happy to have a friend.

For Us?

We just received our first award from our new friend, and fellow pibble dog, Princess the Pit Bull. How sweet!

Here's the info:
*As a dedication for those who love blogging activity and love to encourage friendships through blogging.
*To seek the reason why we all love blogging.
*Put the award in one post as soon as you receive it.
*Don’t forget to mention the person who gives you the award.
*Answer the Award’s question by writing the reason why you love blogging.
*Tag and distribute the Award to as many people as you like.
*Don’t forget to notify the Award receivers and put their links in your post

Well, there are a few reasons that I love blogging about the dogs. The first is that I think they're so special and great and wonderful and I just want to gush about them all the time! The second is the because I think that it's important to get a positive pit bull image out as much as possible. I want people to be aware that there are responsible, caring pit bull caregivers and along with that, there are sweet pit bull dogs who are just like any other dog. The last reason is because I love connecting with all of the other dog lovers out there! Living with a dog really does something to your heart (and if it doesn't, then I just don't know what to make of you).

I think we will pass this award on to:
1) The lovely Mina and Celeste.
2) The Little Brown Dog, a tripod like Addy (they are even missing the same leg)!

Back to School

So last night was week one of Addy's dog training class. Of course, on week one, only the people come and the dogs get to stay home. So, I went to be trained (and to hand over the $$$ and fill out paperwork). We are going to be working with Rendy Schwartz at Anything is Pawsible in Chicago. It's funny that I have driven past this place a million times and never really took note of the name. My favorite produce store is right across the street!

Anyway, based on the hour that we spent last night, I really like Rendy and I am excited to see how Addy will do in class next week. There are 6 total dogs in class (which is the max allowed). I don't remember them all, but there is a Maizie (don't remember her breed or age), a 5 month old dobie, a 6 year old mini schnauzer, a 5 month old mini schnauzer, and a 1.5 year old chihuahua. A nice mix, I think! At the start of class, we introduced ourselves and our dogs and said something that we loved about our dogs (because so many people go to training just because they're frustrated with their dogs!). I said that I loved Addy because I wasn't planning to get another dog, but she won me over anyway. I am excited to meet all of the other dogs.

And if things work out with Rendy, I am hoping to see what we can do with the other dogs. Maybe some work with Wrigley and Probert. Also, Rendy teaches a therapy dog class which might be a nice refresher for Maizy. We'll see where it goes! "Anything is Pawsible!"

Collared!

Addison got her first package in the mail today - a shiny new collar from my good friend, Flo. It was so sweet of her and the collar fits Addy perfectly and looks so cute. It even came with a little star shaped charm hanging off of it (and I bought Addy an ID tag today, too). She is officially my dog now for real. :)

The collar came from Lucky Fiona, and they also have a blog!
